Independent Living Frequently Asked Questions
You Have Questions, Williston Place Has Answers
Q. What exactly is enhanced 55+ independent living?
A. Independent Living, also called a senior living community, is for people who are able to live on their own but do not want to maintain a home.
Q. How do I know if I’m ready to make the move to an independent living community?
A. Most people find that it is time to take steps in order to best enjoy the next chapter of their lives. Sometimes that means making time for areas of interest instead of chores. Sometimes it means increasing social opportunities and hobby exploration. Sometimes having a chef-prepared three course meal is just the right thing.
Q. What’s the difference between Independent Living, Assisted Living and other senior living options?
A. The key difference between Independent Living and other housing options is the level of assistance offered for daily living activities and health care. If you, or your loved one requires round-the-clock help with eating, dressing, and using the toilet, or requires regular medical assistance, other housing options such as assisted living, memory care or skilled nursing may be a better fit.
Q. What is dining like?
A. At Williston Place, the evening meal is served Monday-Saturday with Brunch on Sunday, and is included in the monthly rental fee. Community members are free to be seated at any time during Dining Room hours and the menu will offer daily specials plus a standard fare.
Q. Is underground parking available to everyone?
A. Each residence at Williston Place will have the convenience of an underground parking space for their vehicle.
Q. Is this a pet-friendly community?
A. At Williston Place we welcome new community members to bring their cat. We do not allow residency for dogs, reptiles or birds. We simply request you provide us with up to date health and vaccination records and the name of the individual who would be responsible for your pet, should the need ever arise. Dogs are welcome to visit as long as they are leashed and up-to-date with vaccinations.
Q. How do I choose my new home?
A. Once you have decided to make Williston Place your new home and have been added to the reservation wait list, we will work with you on selecting your apartment. Do you prefer morning sun or afternoon sun?
